'The incident of the Mother that you have recounted goes more in favour of taking action against Heehs than not, because she did not permit the articles of the man who had turned against her. Even in the past cases, she was too willing to take action on anybody who made critical remarks on Sri Aurobindo. Now that both of them are not “physically present”, there is all the more reason for taking action on people criticising them in their own Ashram.'
From my perspective the key issue is that none of us is an avatar or occult master of the calibre of Mother or Sri Aurobindo (understatement of the century). Speaking for myself I could not even dream of being in a position where I could decide the fate of another. Given my own inner state I couldn't possibly comment on anyone else's. But perhaps there are others in the IY community who are much more advanced than me and maybe they do perceive occultly. I'm open to that possibility though I always maintain some skepticism as I know how easy it is to deceive oneself about occult perceptions without an incredibly integral level of purity.
All I'm saying is that the Mother was precisely such an integrally realized being. We are not. We should simply be aware that whatever we do (no matter how convinced we are that it is "good") will undoubtedly be tainted by ego and the distortions of our lower nature and it is silly to pretend otherwise.
At the end of the day, everyone will have to do what he or she thinks is best according to their capacities and the height and depth of their consciousness. We are all sincere within the limitations of our consciousness, I suppose. Let's be humble, though, and not be so sure that we are necessarily doing the right thing, given the incredible example set for us by the Mother and Sri Aurobindo. They are tough acts to follow.
