Savitri: the Light of the Supreme

There is also the counter-question, of the tradition-bound Indian society. It is emphatically happy about the past and doesn't see the new spiritual avenues that have been opened out for it. Surely it is not fundamentalism, but it is definitely kind of tamasic, refusing to change. Very few Indians know Sri Aurobindo though perhaps large masses revere him. So the problem is here also. The principle "aspiration-rejection-surrender" is easily acceptable but in the sense of the tradition, not in the Aurobindonian spirit. RYD
