It would help if we are clear about Religion, Integral Yoga etc when using these terms loosely and frequently. To state that Integral Yoga as enunciated by Sri Aurobindo is, or has become a "religion" in the sense of the present day religions, is absurd to say the least. It is tantamount to saying that Sri Aurobindo - who after all embodied the truth of His yoga - was Himself credulous. It is a direct attack on the Master himself. It is asinine and does not warrant any discussion. However that might not be the contention and perhaps what was implied was that the practice of the Integral Yoga by an increasing number of people has resulted in the blemishing of the Integral Yoga with the taint of religion, or worse still, Integral Yoga being misconstrued as one. But clearly the reason for that can and must lie at the door of the practitioners and not in the Yoga itself. Even if there be some truth to the calumny that the "Integral Yoga in the Ashram has become a Religion of the Credulous", it betrays the pettiness of the detractor which chooses to look at the stumblings and shortcomings of the Ashramites rather than be inspired by those who exemplify the teachings of the Yoga. It is also I believe judging the Ashramites superficially. In any case we can surely look to Sri Aurobindo and the Mother for the truth of the Integral Yoga, particularly when one affirms or agrees that their Avatarhood is a matter of faith only. If their example seems too distant then look to the great ones that the Ashram has seen in Nolini, Champaklal, Kapali, Pavitra, to name only a few. The truth of the Yoga is borne out by the lives of these disciples.
