A few quick thoughts. It would be well to include the context in which Krishna states this, for the Gita is a developing argument that culminates in a magnificent synthesis of love devotion and works. Here - as I understand it - Krishna in His synthetic movement emphasizes the need for knowledge along with Bhakti/devotion and that Bhakti is not consummated - however ecstatic - without knowledge. It is knowledge that gives the ecstatic Bhakti of the devotee a secure foundation. The 4th category of which Auroman writes is of those (Bhaktas) who have "arrived" or realised the Divine and also have knowedge of the Divine. This stage/state is quite different from the first three which are perhaps perparatory. must be through Bhakti and live in the Divine with knowledge of the divine.
I am not sure I would say that Jijnasu (category 2) are just "Intellectual explorers/curiosity seekers)" but rather those who adore Him and seek to know Him. In fact if I would put this in category 3. The Lord is talking about Bhakti here and those who turn to Him. Those who are curious, intellectual explorers(I like that phrase) are not seekers really that turn to Him or included in these categories.
