It is clear that the historian craves for peer recognition from academics elsewhere rather than Divine Union. He assumes that the Ashram is akin to a University where he can do his so-called objective research under the banner of "Yoga". It is Rajasic Tapasya when you try to fulfill your own worldly ambitions at the expense of your Guru. Relaxing the rules of Sadhana can have negative consequences in the post-Guru phase. It allows pretenders like these to claim that whatever they are doing is also "Yoga".
