Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Social Reconstruction

There are two aspects to the issue. The first is social reconstruction based on India’s foundational principles of the harmonious fourfold division of labour, not the decadent caste system but the values that spring from the source of the inner spirit. There has to be the sense of sacrifice for the sake of the country. Today the general tendency is, the general expectation is how much we as individuals can get from the country, how much we can profit, instead of how much we can give to the country. NRI remittances to the country are welcome but what are the NRIs, for instance, doing for the sake of the country directly? How much their talent and professional competence is ploughed back into the stream of national life? That question remains unanswered. Would one not like Amartya Sens come down to India, settle here and work on the Indian soil for the good of India? Does one simply want to promote one’s individual professional prospects or want to serve the country in one’s best capacity? Once in a while we do have Narayan Murthys, and they do make all the difference.
And then there is yet another aspect. There has to be a silent concern in the souls of the realized ones for the good of India. An unknown Yogi in a cave of the Himalayas meditating for the good of the country can much bring about the transformative change. Our prayer is for such souls to be born in the land of ours. Our prayer is for such souls to be born in the nations of the world for their authentic welfare. That is not to say that our prayer is for the birth of the recluses. What is meant by the metaphor “cave of the Himalayas” is the attitude of the siddha Karmayogin on a collective working. And yet there can be the strength of the original metaphor also. Who knows?
