Leather used as a bottle to hold wine: When leather becomes wet and is allowed to dry, it may often develop cracks. A physically old leather bottle may have physical cracks, which may allow any liquid to pour out, rendering it useless. Not only is the bottle ruined, but the wine put into the bottle is lost.
Matthew 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
